On the 18th of November 2022 the CPL Foundation hosted its 12th Pride of Papua New Guinea awards at the Parliament State Function room. First started in 2007 by the CPL group the Pride of PNG awards have grown to recognize many Papua New Guinean women. The six women recognized on the night were only the latest of a long list of winners numbering 66 in the last 11 years.

“CPL Group through its philanthropic arm the CPL Foundation is focusing on empowering women and girl through economic independence and change makers in their communities,” said Sir Mahesh Patel, chairman of the CPL Foundation during the ceremony.

The Pride of PNG Awards have six categories. They are Bravery & Courage, Care & Compassion, Community Spirit, Education/Role Model, Environment and Young PNG. A panel of judges selects from hundreds of nominations to choose the winners.

This year’s Pride of PNG Award winners include Ann Hewago for Care & Compassion, Hennah Joku for Bravery & Courage, Annie Varo for Young PNG, Theresia Bafui for Education/Role Model, Susan Case for Community Spirit, and Naomi Longa for Environment.
