CPL Foundation Inc. Champions Financial Literacy at Buk bilong Pikinini’s Literacy Week
CPL Foundation Inc. (CPLF) proudly supported Buk bilong Pikinini’s (BbP) Literacy Week – Day 2 celebrations, which focused on Financial Literacy.
At the Tatana Library Learning Centre in Port Moresby, CPLF representatives, including Foundation Manager Deborah Alois, Program Officer Janice Ulaiwi, and CPL Graduate Trainees – Anthon Soga, Cosmas Kas, Mellie Mong, Henrick Ah-Wong, Poksy Vinnie, Angelica Kup, and Delma Kandi – joined students for a day of interactive activities. The children participated in exercises such as selling fish to earn income, making withdrawals at a pretend ATM, budgeting for purchases, and shopping at a mini store. The day concluded with a shared reading of When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Banker.

CPL Foundation Inc. has been a proud partner of Buk bilong Pikinini for more than a decade. As a Diamond sponsor, CPLF funds the operational expenses of the Tatana LLC, including teacher salaries, resources, special events, and utilities — ensuring children continue to access quality early childhood education and life skills programs.
“Our ongoing sponsorship reflects our commitment to empowering young Papua New Guineans,” said Deborah Alois, CPL Foundation Manager. “It was wonderful to engage with the students and see how much they were learning about financial literacy while having fun. We are proud to invest in the next generation’s ability to make smart financial choices.”
Buk bilong Pikinini’s Executive Officer, Leanne Resson, acknowledged the importance of this support, saying, “Introducing financial literacy at an early age builds essential life skills such as budgeting, saving, and decision-making. We are grateful for CPL Foundation’s holistic partnership and continued support for Literacy Week activities.”
